Check out the interactive frequently asked questions below.
What if I don't wake up?
This is not possible. If after putting someone in to a hypnotic trance, the hypnotist was to suddenly drop dead, one of two things would happen:
• The client will immediately wake up or "shock waken"
• The client will fall in to a normal sleep and wake when he/she is ready.
There is absolutely NO chance of anyone being "locked" in hypnosis forever.
Can everyone be hypnotised?
Yes, every human being can be hypnotised with the following three exceptions:
• Young children under approximately 5 years of age.
• Severely mentally disturbed.
• People who choose not to be hypnotised.
People do go in to different depths of hypnosis but hypnotherapy can be of benefit to everyone.
will I blurt out all my personal secrets?
No, you will always be in full control of everything you say and do. There is no question of being in the power of the hypnotist and made to do things you don't want to do.
However, anything shared by you is treat with the strictest confidentiality.
Will I actually be sleeping?
No, you will not be asleep or awake, but somewhere in the middle. You will be in a state in which all of your natural senses will be around 30% more efficient than usual. You will be FULLY AWARE of what is going on at ALL times.
WHEN IN HYPNOSIS, WILL I DO THINGS AGAINST MY WILL?
Certainly NOT. A person in hypnosis is in TOTAL CONTROL of the situation at ALL times.
Although the word "sleep" is used frequently in hypnosis, a person in hypnosis is not actually asleep. In fact he/she is neither wide awake nor asleep, but somewhere in between.
Therefore, you will not be "made to dance around like a chicken".
why is your consultation free of charge?
I believe that a free consultation is the perfect time for you and I to get to know each other so that I can understand what you are wanting to achieve from hypnotherapy. I will use this time to ask you some questions so that I can better tailor your therapy sessions to suit your needs.
Will I be pressured to use your services?
I will suggest that you go away after your consultation to consider everything that has been discussed.
do you offer discount?
I believe in giving back to the men and women that give so much to protect our community, so I offer a 25% saving to NHS, emergency workers and armed forces personnel only.
how many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?
The duration of your therapy will depend on your circumstances and the reason for which you are seeking hypnotherapy. If you are seeking hypnosis for a one-off service, I will deliver hypnotherapy in a single session of up to two hours.
However, other issues may require a longer-term approach with regular weekly sessions. I will let you know how many sessions I feel you might benefit from during your consultation. This will be flexible when it comes to decreasing or extending the number of sessions according to your progress and needs.
WIll I have to pay up front for long term treatment?
No. in-line with the relaxed approached payment will be required on a session by session basis, but you are free to block book a number of sessions if you wish. The only exception to this is HypnoSlimmer, which must be paid in full before your first session.
How long will my hypnotherapy session last?
This will depend on your circumstances. Some treatments, like smoking cessation, are one off 2 hour sessions. A general hypnotherapy session will last approx. 50-60 minutes.
I think my child may benefit from hypnotherapy, can you help and is it safe?
Hypnotherapy for young people and children is both safe and very effective. Children naturally use their subconscious mind and their imagination frequently, so they tend to respond very well to hypnotherapy.
Can I get hypnotherapy on the nhs?
Access to hypnotherapy through the NHS is very limited but you can discuss this with your healthcare provider. However it's not widely available, which means Neil and other practitioners generally work privately.
I can't get to your clinic, do you offer telephone treatments?
While telephone treatments are possible, it would only be considered after a face to face treatment session and in exceptional circumstances.
I am happy to have a telephone / video call consultation FREE of charge.
can I train to become a clinical hypnotherapist?
Hypnotherapy is rewarding, challenging and complex. With lots of reading and practicing during and after the initial training phase. Neil will gladly recommend a training provider for you.
I feel really nervous, is this normal?
Feeling nervous before your hypnotherapy session is perfectly normal and it's perfectly acceptable for you to feel this way.
Part of Neil's job is to relax you and this will happen naturally as part of your induction in to the hypnotic trance. By the end of the sessions you'll wonder why you felt nervous.
How much does hypnotherapy cost?
Hypnotherapy costs vary depending on the hypnotherapist that you choose. I don't charge for a consultation, as I believe this is a good opportunity for you to see how you will get on with me. Therapy could be the cheapest in town, but if you don't like your therapist then your unconscious mind is unlikely to accept the changes suggested to you.
• Hypnotherapy - £50 per 60 minute session.
